Day 218

This morning we headed to Max's CT appointment. The ladies that helped us were so nice and really helped calm him down. They brought down a dancing robot, and a wii for him to play with during the prep time where he had to drink six cups full of poweraid and contrast. They even showed him the CT machine and tried to make him less nervous about it.

When it was his turn Nick went in with him and they did it. He ended up not having to be sedated, which was a good thing. They found out pretty quick what was wrong. Max has a really bad kidney infection. They walked us back to where they had prepped him and the nurse called Dr. Berry and informed him what was going on and we were told that Max was to be admitted to Pediatrics right away.

We headed up to Pediatrics and got him settled in his room. Dr's and nurses were in and out and we just sat in this whirlwind of having your child admitted to the hospital. We are very thankful that they found out what was wrong. We are thankful that the problem is very fixable and didn't require the further testing that Dr. Berry spoke about. Testing that no parent wants to see or even think about their child having. At last we could take a big deep breath and relax...well as much as possible when your child is still miserable and in the hospital.

The rest of the day was spent with him on an iv drip and finally the addition of an antibiotic that they felt would work for him. He played the wii a little, slept a little, and had a bunch of concerned visitors. Day 12 of this fever.
