OK so I suppose that I should formally introduce our newest little member of our family. Ezra Royce was born on October 30th. It was a surprise arrival since my Cesarean wasn't scheduled until November 7th. He was 6 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long.
On the night of October 29th/30th I started having contractions. Not like the contractions that I have throughout my pregnancies....these were different. But not consistent. They woke me and Nick up all night. Morning rolled around and Nick decided it was best to not go to church just in case. (There was no way it really was going to happen right?) I didn't feel like eating at all (well except for my Tootsie Rolls and a little water here and there). The contractions kept coming but still not regular or consistent. I called Monica she told me to go get checked. I told her I didn't need to. She told me to set a time and if I were still having them I should go get checked. 2:00 was the time she picked for me. :)
Around 1-1:30 I decided to get in the shower and get ready and to see if that would help ease some of the contraction pain. I think it kinda hit me at that point that it was time. Nick came in as I stood in the shower crying about the fact that tomorrow was Halloween and I didn't want to miss that for the boys and after all the baby had no Halloween costume. Monica called when I was in the shower so I called her back and let her know that we would be headed that way with the boys soon.
We finished getting ready and gathered up stuff for the boys in case it really was the day then we headed to Monica's to drop them off. I called my Mom at that point. I told her that we were going to get checked and that I had had contractions all night. She asked what they could do and I said just wait to hear from us. We dropped the boys off then headed to the Hospital.
(The last pregnancy picture. 38 weeks)
At the Hospital we got checked in and all hooked up to the monitors. The nurse checked me and said I was at a 1 and a wiggle but fully effaced. They monitored me for a bit and she talked to Dr. Berry who thought perhaps I was dehydrated. She asked when the last time I had eaten was. I told her that I had had some Tootsie Rolls and water at about 12. She laughed and thought about that and said that she didn't even know if that counted. Dr. Berry suggested that she give me some water to see if that would help and have me do a urine sample to make sure I didn't have a UTI.
The water sent the contractions into overdrive and they got more frequent and really hard. To the point where I was crying because it hurt so bad. (Remember my high pain tolerance...yeah OUCH) The nurse came in and checked me again and I was still the same (WHAT!!!??!?) I told her that if she was going to send me home I would seriously cry.
A few minutes later she poked her head in and asked if I wanted my c/s tonight. Umm yes! So prep time started. I had Nick call Fred to come help give me a blessing while I called My family (My Mom and Tenneil were at Monica's waiting). They started the iv and we finished filling out the paperwork then we waited. There was a person scheduled for 7 and they decided to wait until after her. Thankfully (not at the time though) that gave my Dad, Dan and Alex time to get there.
Finally Dr. Berry got there and we headed in, on a bed this time. They got me on the table and Dr. Lind did my spinal, they put in the catheter, and got then they got started. They chatted about Dr. Berry's upcoming trip to Africa, and the immunizations you need so that you don't end up with bugs. I was so exhausted that I kept thinking that I would go to sleep once they had him out and I had seen him. Once they got in there they commented on how clear the fluid was. At that point things went pretty quick. They found that he had the cord wrapped around his neck twice, though not tight. He cried pretty quick and I was relieved that he was OK.
Dr. Berry did his signature wave the baby's arm at the Mommy and I was so surprised at how different he looked than his brothers.
Nick went with the nurse to get him cleaned up and weighed. Then they brought him back for me to see him. Oh that sweet little bundle was so pink and healthy looking.
I got a pic with him, smelled him and gave him a kiss and then the nurse and Nick headed down to the nursery to check him out.
This is a pic of all of the family that came to meet our little Ezra.

I am so glad everything went so well! I still need to meet Ezra!
OH MY GOODNESS, that's a beautiful little boy... Not even in the faking-it kind of way either :)
Loved this post!
